I own 2 Flaming Lips cds and they're both miles apart, which makes them very "eclectic" and not afraid to be different and take chances. If you ever want to listen to a cd that takes you on an emotional ride and is so mesmorising buy 'The Soft Bulliten'. It wont grab you at once but if your gonna take a long drive you'll get it.

Check out their album "The Soft Bulletin". You'll probably like it if you enjoy the experimental aspect of Radiohead and Blur.

i thought the few songs i heard were pretty cool. i dont really know how good they are "character" wise but ya. i guess i dont know enough by them to say i live them either though. so i am neutral.

What I've heard (admittedly not much) I've liked. Plus, awhile ago I saw Beck on Austin City Limits and the Lips were his backing band, so they can't be all band because Beck amazes (and at times frightens) me quite a bit.

clouds taste metallic "ownz" the soft bulletin.....they still only play one song off of clouds taste metallic live "lightning strikes the postman"...

the soft bulletin is probably easier to get into tho, but you have to ask yourself what you want from a cd...

I only saw them perform one tune from the Toronto festival...
Didn't wanna make me run out and buy any of their CD's
