I think takin a few hits off a j before a show really losens me up and I dont think it affects my playing because a few hits doesnt really get me stoned it just calms me.


Heres a little story about drug use before a show.............once we were playing a battle of the bands type deal and before the show all the kids that were gonna play that night met and had a party before the show. I know I shared a J with the bandmates but we were still cool to play......Then this one guy shows up and he bought himself quite a large amount of shrooms and ate them. While this guy was on stage midway through his bands second song he put his guitar down and walked to the lobby type area of our community center. Then he pulls down his pants and proceeds to pee all over everything and hes laughing his head off while doing it. After that some of his friends took him to go calm him down and his band couldnt finish their set..........wow that was long

I'm the same way Brian. I like to take a few hits off a J before I do any serious jamming just for the calming effect. I'm not really any good to anybody stoned out of my mind.

I'll have a few drinks afterwards but never before. I like to be completely clear headed when I play. Since I don't do any drugs that's not even an issue.

I like being stone when I'm jamming or creating but playing on a stage, NEVER. I prefer to be clean!

Hey Primoz, good question. I hope to give a good answer. Alcohol first impairs your judgement and coordination, which is probably the two most important functions you need to play. As for smoke, it makes one paranoid and impairs concentration.{so I've heard!} Again if you are playing in front of crowds,well you can do the math. I have not had a drink in over twenty years but I dont think a drink or two would hurt, but you know what you can handle. Hope I helped.
