What's the best band no one's heard of?

Hey folks!

I've been going through my CD collection and playing alot of the disks that I haven't listened to for a couple years and rediscovering lots of my old favorites.

One band I've been playing lately was a great metal act out of Maryland. I saw them open for another act in Pittsburgh. I think they opened for Clutch or Life of Agony or some such band.

Anyone ever hear Souls at Zero? That's the name of the band, and unfortunately, all their stuff is out of print. But if you can find their music somewhere and like heavy metal, I'd highly suggest checking them out.

Here's a link to a review page on Amazon:

So what bands do YOU like that no one's ever heard of?

Neon Cactus! They sing country. I don't like country but I do enjoy their CD's.

God Speed is incredible. Have you heard Mogwai, Daniel? If you like Godspeed pick up some Mogwai. You'll probably like it.

i like the godspeed spinoff bands too, fly pan am, a silver mt. zion.....excellent stuff

F#A#(infinity), Slow riot for new zero kanada EP, and Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven are simply four of the most astounding CD's I've ever heard...and 2 bassists??!

Yanqui U.X.O i found a tad dull......until track 3 Motherf*cker=Redeemer, which was simply stunning...

Not heard any Mogwai...i'd better investigate, any band compared to godspeed must be special...

I haven't heard any of those spin off bands yet, but will be sure to check them out. Anything in particular they've done that you'd recommend?

The only Godspeed I own is Skinny Fists, but I've been eyeing F#A# for a while now. Pretty good album? I've heard quite a few mixed reviews on Yanqui to be honest. A lot of people share the same sentiments that you do in that it's kind of dull.

As far as Mogwai goes, I'd recommend picking up their cd "come on die young". Very cool cd. I think you'll dig it.
