Try "OLGA" or Harmoney Central for the chord sequence, then just hang around the root and play with the arppeggio's. It's a simple song. Sometimes the fellows I play with do this to a jazz beat and I mix arppegio's and walking the scales.
Cheers.

This is where the "ear" is gonna come in handy......Haven't heard the song in a while but I'll bet you find most all of it hiding in major scales of the chord roots. try playing with the thirds and fifths of the major scales. this was still during the eagles rock/country era (pre-Joe Walsh) and most of their stuff back then was pretty straightforward.....

Good luck .....and e-mail it to me when you get it figured out.....:)

Hi Gareth.....I know it's going back a bit....2003 actually!!! But did you work out the fills etc to 'Take it Easy'? I'm about to have a go at it too but reasonable tabs for this song are a bit thin on the ground!! Cheers, Dave

Dave - it seems Gareth hasn't posted anything on AB since 2006.

This is where ear training comes in handy. If you don't already have one consider picking up a Tascam Bass Trainer (there's both CD & MP3 versions available) it will allow you to slow down a song while keeping the correct pitch - a very valuable learning tool.

I pretty much gave up on tab as most of the free ones are pretty inaccurate.

Dave, I know that this is a uber-simple song,
because I actually play it with my band. I think the
fills are, as someone else said, simple chord
progressions and not much more. If I can do it,
anyone can, lol. You'll be fine if you stay close to
the root and don't try to do too much. Good luck, my
friend.

I don't know for sure, but You Tube has a lot of people doing bass covers to a lot of songs. I can't believe how many songs I've learned from that site!

Thanks for all the help guys re this song. In the end I asked my bass tutor to work out a tab for me....his name is Sam Reynolds.... am I allowed to advertise??? He kindly put it in Guitar Pro format which I'll try to upload. I'm sure he won't mind..... he's a typical bassist...ie is pretty laid back about such things! Thanks again. Cheers, Dave
