I'm just starting get into playing and I already have bass, but its pretty beat up because I got it from a friend. Could any of you give me some feedback on what kind of bass I should get? Possibly under $300.

Sorry if this post doesnt go here.

Welcome to AB.com. I would suggest you you repost your message and let everyone know: what kind of music you want to play because this will narrow it down a touch, but if your gonna play rock, punk, blues, or jazz save alittle more money and get a Mexican made Fender P-bass. They're worth every penny.

Mike, no offense, but search the archives for "Need a new bass" or the like. This post has been done countless times before.

Check out a beginner bass package on musiciansfriend's website. They all come with a new bass, bass-amp, strap, etc. I think Bass Player magazine rated the Hartke bass-beginner pack as the best.
