I so agree with you, Norman! There's no groove and practically all the basslines are just guitar doubling. What's the point?

I believe AC/DC's bass player is Cliff Williams. He may play simple bass lines, but a "busier" bassist might well loose the overall effect and feel the band has chosen to create. I can't knock him for that, and I still like to crank up their Back in Black album when I'm in the mood. Good old rock doesn't mandate JPJ or Ox bass lines all the time.

Cliff Williams is perfect for AC/DC. Not only that but if you listen to the basslines he plays, he's always right there ontop of what the drummer is doing. He may not be flying all over the fretboard, slapping, tapping, and fingering crazy arppegios, but he does what I feel sounds best for their sound. Now if he hit wrong notes, couldn't stay in rhythm and had a bad bass sound, then I'd agree with you, but he doesn't.

Yes Sir, One of the first songs I learned to play came off there 1st album when Bon was singing and for the life of me the name of that songs escapes me!!

I agree... I also feel that way about Adam Clayton of U2. He's nothing fancy, but he sure does the job he's supposed to do.

Sometimes the simplest basslines are the hardest to play. Especially when you are in a studio situation like those guys were with producers like Mutt Lange, believe me, I know. Cliff Williams is a great bass player. Remember...sometimes less is more.
