Have you seen those cymbolic picks? they are made from old cymbals...cost 5 bucks...

I just use my fingers...NO PICK.. I have used a pick from time to time when practicing just to get the feel of them.. But I dont like playing the bass with a pick...

I think it all depends on what style one plays on their bass... Just my personal opinion.. I have heard great players that use picks and great players that don't.. I think one should do what works and sounds the best for them..

If you are playing with your fingers and that works for you... then why even bother with a pick. You can do a lot more with your fingers... tapping for one. I never understood the whole "playing a bass with a pick thing". It's just not for me. But, some people swear by a pick... and if that works for them.... who am I to criticise. If playing with your fingers feels best... play with your fingers. If playing with a pick feels best... play with a pick. If you like both... what the h*ll play with both. It just comes down to what feels right to you.

i sometimes use pick and sometimes i use my fingers.

I find that if i want a more presice note then e use a pick, if i want to play fast music then i use my fingers

I leaned that using your fingers for certain styles is no good. I played a punkish song for a friend of mine majoring in recording who did a song for a commercial. When it was just me and the drummer doing the bed tracks the finger bass sounded ok, but the finished product sounded a bit weak without that nasty grind of the pick behind the obnoxious guitar. So If I ever do a punk rock track again I will either use a pick of get the hell out of dodge. ;) I'm just not cool enough to record punk anyway......
