Jaco got some funk o'right! tunes like "come on come over", "the chicken", "mercy, mercy mercy", or "teen town" are great examples... that's the funk/fusion style he got famous for.... beside that he even played some blues and regga(!)

Bootsy has the ultimate funk attitude, and he's a great bass player. John Norwood Fisher from Fishbone, however, is by far my favorite funk bass player. Anything from the early albums is great, especially "Bonin' in the Boneyard."

Norwood is one hell of a funky guy. Ma and Pa is one of my all time favourite happy songs, and has a kick a-- bassline.

I've deen logging on to AB for a couple of weeks now and you are the first person,(apart from me) who's even mentioned James.
As we say in the UK, he was 'The Dogs Bollocks'
The guy from The Fatback band was pretty good too.
