Naming your band

I've been thinking of a name for a band I'm on the verge of forming, and we're gonna play mostly hard rock/metal with a blues influence. Every name for us that anyone thinks of is either bad or has already been used. Does anyone have any names I can use or any ways to think of some?

That's such a cool formula Rex made. My band would then be called "Freddie Cherry." That's an awesome name.

Get a name that the whole band agrees with e.g.

Adrenalin Talkin'

Section 3

Danger Level

etc etc

It's up to you pal.

Didn't the Grateful dead get their name by just flipping open the dickshunairy and dropping the finger on whatever word was there?

Big HI'YA to you Kerry, hope you find time for more updates on your website...of course I check in to see how you are doing. Guess What? my 14 year old announced that she wants to take up the bass guitar, I said to her "what do you hope to accomplish with that? Why not classical 12 string? or Piano? or a fiddle even? Then I played your CD again...

Very good ideas on naming! You can also go through the thesaurus, and look for less commonly used words. Just make sure it isn't trademarked! We had a few problems with that and went through a few different band names!

I've known friends bands that write random words on little pieces of paper and toss them into a hat, and blindly pick two or three of them out and see what happens. Each person should write down a verb, and adjective and a noun. You get things like 'Tree sucking jerk" and "falling sky car". I personally find that sitting around and staring into space can generate some interesting ones- Beat Plague, The Julia Set, Mailbox Monkeys, Desperate Measures, and Sky High are a few that have come from recent spacing out.
