Cool Song I Can Learn ??

While I am in the "weird" stage of learning my bass, everyone I know asks me to "PLAY THEM SOMETHING". What I know so far isn't worth playing for them b/c its all "learning stuff". My skill is improving, but its slow b/c there is so much to learn at once: Scales, notation, videos, books, tons of stuff! Even when I look for a song to learn, the bass parts aren't what they are looking for to get into it, by itself. Does anyone have a song that they can suggest that I can play that will impress my friends enough to leave me alone! One that they will recognize. I will take the time to learn it, and then I can get back to the progress of learning in peace.

"Sir Duke" is a cool song, and will definitely impress your friends - but it's really difficult to master. Just thought I would throw that in.

I would try something a little easier. Like maybe "I Wish", if you like Stevie Wonder a lot. Or perhaps Radiohead's "The Bones" if you're into rock.

Hey man, dont laugh. My friend and i actually tried learning that when we both started learning. It took a toll on our basic skill learning, but man, now i can play the whole thing. Granted i have bad technique, but i learned it! hehe.

I know what you're talking about man, the whole part with the drums is a royal pain to learn, and your right about listneing to it for a thousand times it gets pretty easy, especially cuz when i started out i could only play the beginning. Think about that, constant repetition of the minor thrids in the beginning, it drove me insane, but the more i played it, the more i learned, and i eventually got the thing down. Your right that the individual parts aren't hard, put put it together and play the whole thing through, then tell me its not hard.

Well hell yeah it's hard for a beginner like myself but I have this thing where I don't call certain songs 'hard' just because _I_ can't play them. I only call a song 'hard' if I think a regular bass player who actually knows how to play (lol) would have some trouble with it so you see...

The fact I'm a moron doesn't mean I should go around speaking nonsense although that same fact would give me quite an excuse for doing so... ;)
