Your 18 and, your sopose to decide the rest of your life...

Well I knew i'd end up having to think about it, I'm turning 18 on the 27th and i've finished high school early, just comming outta a failed band and i'm try'n to figure out what I want to do with my life....

My father is pushing joining the navy like he did at 18. I doubt I want that path. I can't afford college right now. I have little real work experance outside the relam of residental electrical wiring. *shaking head*

So brings up the question, After high school what did you do? Did you follow your passion and do you work a job you really like?

I went to college on various loans, drove a VW beetle that was worth 30 bucks, got a fake I.D, and played gigs every chance I got.

After high school I got a job and shared an apartment with my bestest buddy..:o) ....then, when school started back up in Sept, I walked to college 3 times a week, to take guitar and law enforcement classes. Then, sadly, just when things were going great, I decided to get married..Bad move.

Life decisions don't stop at 18 Mike, you make them everyday. You can get loans and grants and scholarships to go to college. You can work and pay your own tuition. Both routes you decide what you want to study.

Mike, I signed up for the USAF on my 18th b/d... Left the state (good idea, all the local cops knew me on a first name basis...lol..), got married by age 20 (my first wife had a 5 year old, so I was a daddy!), and had a second son by age 22.... Finished my tour, went to college in San Antonio for two years, got divorced, moved back to PA with my sons, put a roof over their heads for 18 more years, then, after my youngest moved out, started my second childhood...! I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.....lol....! Griz...... :)

When I was 18, I did my military service (general conscription was normal those days), served 12 months in Germany, in a division of scout tanks, came to Belgium, started a band, got a job, another job, again another job, made a record, did some studiowork, got a promotion, stopped plying music, courted my future wife who had 2 childrens, married, became a real dad after one year, parented, rediscovered my former singer, bought a bass, discovered AB, bought another bass, bought a fretless one....in fact the only thing I am fit for is to play bass! LOL
