Open String Scalar-Lick

by Webb Pickersgill (801)

Pages: 1 2 Suggested Tempo: 80

This lick is straight forward. It uses 1/16th notes, but the notes are grouped in 3's. This gives the lick a bit of syncopation to it that makes it cool. Each set of 3 starts with the open G string followed by 2 notes that are 3rd of each other within the G major scale. The 3rd's move up, and then back down the neck. Left hand fingering is not that important here, but I use 2/1 for the major thirds, and 3/1 for the minor thirds. (Next Page is the same exercise on Harmonic Minor... that sounds even better!)
