As you can see, this exercise simply uses a 1-2-3-4 left hand finger pattern wich does 4 different patterns: 1234 on the lowest string, 1234 diagonally up the strings, 1234 on the highest string, and 1234 diagonally back across the strings. Once you've played it in the first position, repeat it on every position up the neck and down. Practice it first slowly, increase speed only after precision is acheived.
