A Song For My Father

by Clifton Jackson (35274)

Pages: 1 Suggested Tempo: 140

Welcome!

My fellow Bass Players, Demons of the Deep End, Low End Masters, Bassists, Bottom Monsters, Deep End Dwellers, as some of us liked to be called!!

While I was Practicing one night, I though of my Father. (There is nothing wrong with him, I just thought of him!) I made up this Song for him. It is the Jazz Progression: I-I-I7-IV-iv. I was checking how to connect the I & I7 chords using a Diminished Chord. I liked the sound of it...And so does my Father!!

The Diminished chord consists of the Root, b3rd, b5th, and bb7th (bb7th = 6th) Diminished chords are usually used to connect one chord to another, such as: C Major - C Diminished - G Major or C Major - C# Diminished - D Minor or as an affect by playing the Diminished chord followed by the Major chord of the same Root: C Major - C Diminished - C Major. The latter is the one I used in this lesson. I hope that you will enjoy this! :^D
