Part 1

(The exercises that I want to show you in this lesson will be divided into 4 parts. Part 1 is on this page and Parts 2, 3, 4 are on the following pages. It will be a Nice Run, Ascending, Descending, Ascending and Descending most of the Neck of your Bass! Please bear with me on this. It will be well worth your time!)

OK, we all know that music doesn’t always start on the Root Note of the Chord. This is a known fact! Now here’s what we are going to do...Play the Modes (in G Major)...Ascending the Ionian mode, descending the Dorian mode, ascending the Phrygian mode, descending the Lydian mode, ascending the Mixolydain mode, descending the Aeolian mode and, ascending the Locrian mode and, descending the Ionian mode

See, we are starting a New Mode on each Note of the "G Major" Scale, and reversing direction on each Mode. Now each Note is made Important!! Not just the Root!

When you play this, listen to the Sound of the Modes. It will help Train and Develop that Legendary, Magical, Mystical, Golden Musical Ear that we all Want and Need! And, it does Wonders for your Hands, as well!! :^D It will get you moving up and down most of the Neck.

Also, you can say each Note as it is played...This will help you as well!

(Always practice with a Metronome or Drum Machine. You are Playing the Bass...Rhythm and Timing is Everything to Us!)
