I want to leave you with two thoughts: The first is that these are not "fills"...they are variations in a line. You should be thinking about "writing" your bassline as much as playing it. I don't mean writing it down on paper, either. I mean creating it, not just "jamming" on a tune. That's fun in certain circumstances, but it won't get you far in the studio, or on a big stage backing up a "star".

The second thought is this: if you want to REALLY check out melodic bass playing, dust off your Beatles records and listen to Paul McCartney. 'Nuff said.

More to come, stay tuned...
