If you are learning the bass and aren't taking lessons then scales can seem very confusing. Once you learn the basic pattern and apply it they become magically simple. The scale names are as follows.
Ionian (major scale)
Dorian (minor with #6th)
Phrygian (minor with flat 2nd)
Lydian (major with #4th)
Mixolydian (major with flat 7th)
Aeolian (minor)
Locrian (minor with flat 2nd & 5th)
Let's start with the Ionian which is also more commanly know as the Major scale. All of the scales in this lesson will use C as the root but they can be played anywhere on the board.
