This bassline shows both the root-fifth pattern that characterizes country bass and a few walkups between the chords. The progression is a simple 12-bar blues (I-I-I-I-IV-IV-I-I-V-V-I-V) in A major. The walkups use scale tones from the key of A major to give a greater sense of connection and movement between the chords. The chart below shows some of the available scale tones starting at E.
