Evolution of the Jazz Blues Form

by Kerry Galloway (909)

Pages: 1 2 3 4 Suggested Tempo: 170

This is one of the later jazz forms of the blues that was popular with Bebop musicians by about 1945. The use of the major 7 chord as the I chord is now common. The back cycling and substitution (substituting a II-bII-i progression for a II-V-I) are now widespread.
