Once you've got a handle on what notes on the staff are what, you will likely start looking around for music to play. I recommend you begin your search with Irish traditional music for several reasons. First, it's short on accidentals, as it's mainly diatonic and modal. Second, it's mainly streams of eighth notes and triplets, so the rhythmic aspect is fairly straightforward. There aren't a lot of rests, as this is traditional dance music, so you can focus on note recognition. Finally, it's all over the internet, and you can get a book of Irish tunes for not much money.
But what of the clef? That's the best part -- although the tunes are written in treble clef, the lack of accidentals makes them easy to transpose at sight to different keys, allowing you to read them AS IF they were written in bass clef. Let's take a look at how to do this.
