Dotted Eighth Note Groove

by David Freeburg (17)

Pages: 1 Suggested Tempo: 80

This is a line that came out of a spontaneous jam. When listening to it later, I really liked the oddly syncopated feel that it had.

Upon further investigation, I realized that I had used a series of four dotted eighth notes starting on the second beat of each measure. The four notes evenly occupy the last three beats of each measure, essentially squeezing three time into a four time feel.

I played around with the groove to fill up eight measures. I hope you get something out of it!
