Extending The Major Scale #2

by Paul Warren (14577)

Pages: 1 2 3 Suggested Tempo: 120

By now you see that shifting position and playing the appropriate mode gives you access to the entire fretboard without excessive memorization. Let's look at one more extension. Starting with the E Phrygian shift up 3 frets (two scale degrees) to G and play the Mixolydian mode.

Notice we have reached the 12 fret already. When you combine G Mixolydian with C Ionian and E Phrygian you have more than a two octave range to use in C major.
