A Stretchy One

I find this to be a great little warm-up for the left hand. Play it 4 or 5 times at 120 with out a break between the last D (7th fret/G string) and the C#/Db (9th fret/E string). Then increase the tempo to 140 and play another 4 or 5 times. After that change the 1/4 notes to 8ths for another 5 or so times. Also play it in reverse.

Since I put this under the beginner catagory I thought I would add this; When playing/practicing this your 1st finger (index) will be on the 4th fret and your 4th finger (pinky) will be used for the 9th fret. For many a player, especially a beginner, that is a good stretch.

The pattern can be played anywhere on the neck so if your fingers are just not long enough or flexible enough you could move up and start on the 12th fret (E string) and work your way back until you are able to play it starting on the 5th fret E string (A).
