Harmonic Dorian

by Ben Cook (6438)

Pages: 1 Suggested Tempo: 120

I have included a line to show what B Dorian sounds like.
You can get this whole scale using open string harmonics on your bass, and the pattern is quite an interesting one to notice.

Here is a note by note of the ascending scale by string and fret.
If you don't know how to strike a harmonic, simply place your finger directly above the fret, and just touch the string (don't press it).
Play the note as you would normally with your right hand, but remember that some harmonics may be clearer on different parts of the string, so you may need to move slightly closer to the bridge or neck depending on the note.

3,4,5,3,4,5,3,4. I found it interesting anyway!

Enjoy!

P.S. This will also work in other keys if you have more strings! For example, you can play F# Dorian in the same pattern starting on a low B, or E Dorian starting on the A and going up to the C of a 6er.
