Finally, if you use more than one position shift you will find you get access to a much greater range. For example if you add the dorian mode at 2nd fret, A string, 7th fret, E string and 9th fret, D string you have access to all these notes.


Using the modes this way is a useful way to extend your range in a given key. It is also a great way to get to know your fretboard.
