Bass Style Of The Month:Rock'n'Roll #1

by Patrick Pfeiffer (10700)

Pages: 1 Suggested Tempo: 120

Greetings, fellow low-enders!

Aaaaaaaaaand...we're back! For those of you who are new on this site and are checking this out for the first time, welcome. For all the other veterans, welcome back. The tradition continues. I'm going to introduce a series of grooves each month in a particular style, and you (and I) can have fun with it! The previous Grooves are all on my AB homepage in the lesson folder, so knock yourselves out!

This month's focus is Rock'n'Roll. Usually people are used to hearing a pumping 8th note-root pattern, which is fine, but you don't need me for that. I'd like to concentrate on the patterns for other figures in Rock'n'Roll. Listen to "Livin' On A Prayer" (Bon Jovi), or "Addicted To Love" (R. Plant) and you'll know the type of bass groove I'm talking about. The notes are still pumping at 8th notes, but the line moves through the chord/scale. Enjoy!
