Use this exercise to teach the differences between major and minor triads while providing a good finger workout and to become more familiar with the fret board.
Start out with your fingers positioned with your index finger on F on the (E) string. Then play out the arpeggios starting out with eighth notes then move on to sixteenth when your fingers get accustomed or more nimble. The only time the fingering will be different is on the lower register of the fretboard where you'll be using the open strings, other than that, the fingering will be the exact same just on a different fret.
Once you learned it going up the fret to the E major/minor on the twelfth fret of the (E) string, do it coming back down to the open E. Try to do this exercise straight without any stops, hiccups, etc. To do this - play it a slow tempo and if you find yourself screwing up in that speed, then slow it down and keep slowing it down till you can do it right.
