Top of the week, bottom of the scale...the musical one, that is!
Time for another Bass Groove of the Week...and what would be a series of bass grooves without an example of a Rap groove in it? One of the Grand Masters of Rap, the cat who put bass in your face via the Sugar Hill label...it's Doug Wimbish!
Make no mistake, Rap can be seriously funky, as Wimbish will prove every time! Check out his resume on line, it's seriously cool! And he's serious about his effects, too!
So, without further ado, let me introduce to you a bass groove in the style of Doug Wimbish...enjoy, Ladies and Gentlemen!
Settings:
Tempo: 230 (The actual tempo is just under 120, it's the system...)
Sound: Elec Fing (probably enhanced by a number of effects)
Click: Start
Loop: 4 times
Groove Skeleton: 1-+ (Two 8th notes)
Tonality: Dominant or Minor (Mixolydian or Dorian/Aeolian)
Style: Rap (with a funky undercurrent)
Yeah, baby! Have a seriously good time with this one! Enjoy, and I'll see you next week!
Peace,
Patrick
P.S.: If you're playing the TAB version below, set your tempo to 120.
