Top of the week, fellow fat-string-pluckers!
It's time for another Groove of the Week! I didn't plan on repeating one of the cats that soon, but I had to learn (actually re-learn) "Josie" by Steely Dan for a gig, and that's when I came across yet another awesome Chuck Rainey groove that I just
had to share with you (he was featured in Groove of the Week #27)!
So, here you have it...it's another groove in the style of Chuck Rainey. Have fun, and when you get the chance, listen to the bass groove of "Josie" on the AJA album...
Settings:
Tempo: 120
Sound: Elec Fing
Click: Start
Loop: 4 times
Groove Skeleton: 1-2+
Tonality: Minor (Dorian)
Style: Funky R&B
You'll really enjoy this one...It's a lot of notes, but it's a reasonable tempo, and the placement works very nicely once you get a hang of it. By the way, if you listen to the original "Josie" groove, there's a double stop in the groove (and it's in E). I'll let you know what the notes are if you
really want to know! Enjoy, bass-brothers and sisters!
Peace,
Patrick
