Bass Groove Of The Week #35

by Patrick Pfeiffer (10700)

Pages: 1 Suggested Tempo: 90

Top of the week, fellow G-String abusers!

Once again (and a little late...sorry about that!), it's time for the Groove of the Week! This week's groove comes to us from beautiful New Orleans, and the bassist in question is best known for his work with "The Meters." His name? Why, George Porter, Jr., of course! You'll have to hear this stuff, it swings HARD, and there's no way to properly convey this with a computer...unless your computer runs on GUMBO!

Check out some of the Meter's recordings and pay close attention to the feel! Without further delay, here's a groove in the style of George Porter, Jr.

Settings

Tempo: 180
(We're fooling the AB system into 16th notes...the actual tempo is 90)

Sound: Elec Fing

Click: Start

Loop: 4 times

Groove Skeleton: 1-1+ (Eighth notes)

Tonality: Dominant (Mixolydian
, but it could also be minor or Major)

Style: Funk/R&B

Good luck, and enjoy! And definitely do some Meters listening...it's pretty much required, and you won't be sorry!

Peace, Patrick

P.S.: If you want to hear the TAB version below, set you Tempo setting to 90.
