Easy so far. Now the harder bit comes when you play the high notes on the neck and you are placing your right thumb without frets to guide you.

To play the harmonic you need to place your thumb dead centre between the fretted note and the bridge.

A good tip is to find your first note by starting in the artificial harmonic position at the 9th/21st fret and then moving upwards, one note at a time, sounding each note until you reach the one you want. Once you have the starting note it is much easier to play the rest.

In this example I have started at the 9th fret and then moved up to find the next octave of the Bb. If you move your thumb with your left hand rather than seperately then you should find that you are able to play the artificial harmonics without too much difficulty. The key is PRACTICE! When you can sound the harmonic at the 15th fret easily and have absorbed all that is on this page then move on.
