Top of the week fellow bass-ment dwellers!

Time for another one of our Grooves of the Week. This week we'll get a special treat from the island of Jamaica...Yo, man! One of the premier rhythm sections in Reggae is the combination of Sly Dunbar on drums, and our man of the hour...I mean week...Robbie Shakespeare! Both Robbie and Sly were members of Peter Tosh's band in the late '70s, and played on dozens of albums together. You've got to check them out!

Without further delay, let me present to you a groove in the style of Robbie Shakespeare...be cool when you're playing this!

Settings

Tempo: 180 (We're fooling the AB system into 16th notes...the actual tempo is 90)

Sound: Elec Fing

Click: Start

Loop: 4 times

Groove Skeleton: 1-a (Dotted eighth note)

Tonality: Dominant (Mixolydian The Bb at the end makes it into a G7#9 chord, a very common Dominant chord)

Style: Reggae

Aaaaaaaah...I'm feeling mellower already! Enjoy, and make that pocket deep!

Peace, Patrick
