Bass Groove Of The Week #29

by Patrick Pfeiffer (10700)

Pages: 1 Suggested Tempo: 100

Top o' the week, fellow sailors of the low soundwaves!

Our bass groove meister of the week bears the same name as a famous American naval hero...John Paul Jones! If I could just remember the band he played with, but all those Zeppelins that are cruising around Shea stadium are distracting me, and my lunch sits in my stomach like Led...so please forgive me if I just can't come up with the name...sorry, I don't mean to Ramble On, so we'll get right to it.

This has got to be one of my all time favorite bass lines. It's sufficiently altered to keep me clear of copyright troubles, but it's very close. As is often the case with great groove players, the drummer and the bassist have a long history of playing together, and the chemistry is just right. JPJ's partner in groove was none other than John Bonham. Their music was way ahead of its time, and if you listen closely to their parts, they're simply amazing! So, without further ado, please let me present to you a groove in the style of John Paul Jones...now if I could just remember that band's name...!

Aaaaah, this takes me right back to the old days...I LOVE this groove! Enjoy cruising this one, it's a classic!

Patrick
