Jazzing Up A Praise And Worship Song

by Ali Taylor (1390)

Pages: 1 2 Suggested Tempo: 130

This is the way that I play "Lord, I Lift Your Name On High" on some Sunday mornings. It sounds much better than just hitting the root note. It also gives the bassist a chance to shine, and really add some funk. The notes should be played staccato at first to really give it a funk feel. Then they should be played legato later on to give a much fuller sound. The second page of this lesson will really add some jazz to the song because it uses the I-IV-V blues position.
