Bass Groove Of The Week #11

by Patrick Pfeiffer (10693)

Pages: 1 Suggested Tempo: 100

Top of the week, fellow bottom-dwellers!

It's that time of the week again, and judging by the positive feedback for last week's groove, slapping those bass strings around a bit is not such a bad idea! So, lets do another one!

This week's groove is based on a Dominant chord, and reaches over four strings, which is always a great workout for the left hand. The major 3rd on beat 4 is set up by a leading tone on a weak part of the beat (the "a" of 3), which let's you use this "minor 3rd" (which is actually the "sharp 9th"). That's always a very cool way to set up a groove (do you know that the "For Dummies" people asked me to explain "cool?"). OK, dive in, slap that baby, and give your drummer a good workout! As always, if any questions creep up, just drop me a line, and remember that all the other "Grooves of the Week" are in my "Lessons" folder!

Settings:

Tempo: 200
(This way the AB system can play it back as 16th notes)

Sound: Slap 1

Click: Start

Loop: 4 times

Style: Funk

Groove Skeleton: 1-e
(two 16th notes)

Tonality: Dominant (Mixolydian Mode)

Enjoy, and don't let that guitar player tell you how to play bass (unless he wants to be told how to turn down that amp)!

Peace,

Patrick

P.S.: If you play the TAB version, set your tempo to 100.
