Having tried to pick up basic walking, I came up with this simple walking bassline over a popular jazz tune. It is rather straight forward, but will allow the beginner to step outside in a very limited sense. If nothing else, use this as a stepping stone to building your own walking line. As a new bass player, I tend to go to open strings more than I probably should. With that in mind, you may wish to play fifth fret instead of open string.
