Since I speak french, i'll try to be as clear as I can.These lessons are made for the intermediate player who needs some techniques to upgrade his playing.My lessons are not absolute rules,they are only my personnal way of playing melodic metal.

THE BEST WAY TO USE MY LESSON#1 IS:

A)Read the text

B)Listen to the exercice

C)Adopt the correct position of the left hand

D)Practice the exercise at a slow tempo

E)Play the exercise at a tempo of 120, then 180.(If you can,go up to 240 with me!)

Let's begin!

LESSON#1:STRENGHTENING YOUR RING AND PINKY FINGERS

The melodic player must have his ring and pinky fingers pretty strong since he will need them a lot in his melodical playing style.In particular, ring and pinky must become independant to obtain both good dexterity and speed. Let's see the following exercise:

This little exercise will help you a lot in gaining this independance between your fingers and also it will strenghten them.

THE CORRECT POSITION OF YOUR LEFT HAND
INDEX:goes only on fret 5;

MIDDLE:not use in this exercise but place it above fret 6;

RING:goes only on fret 7;

PINKY:goes only on fret 8.

Begin very slowly and pay a particular attention in playing the notes very clearly, no buzz, no muted notes.

When you are doing quite well with this exercise go to page 2!!
