This is an exercise for developing right hand speed using free strokes. It is the Classical Guitar Tremelo Picking technique. The right hand pattern is played Thumb for the bass line and Ring, middle and index fingers in that order for the tremelo part. Start slowly, as slow as you can stand around 60-80 BPM, then gradually build up speed as you get used to the technique. A good speed would be 180-220 BPM, play with the tempo control to listen to the melody and smoothness at higher settings. Also for the melody, we do not need a lot of attack when plucking the strings. Strive for even tone throughout. The tremelo part should simulate a bowed instrument, very legato, and the bass part should sustain over each beat. The second bassline is just the actual quarter notes that should ring for the bass section. This is just a simple melody and chord progression to get you started with this technique. Once you have it down it is simple to creat your own melodies.
