Git That Funky Feelin'
This little slap lick includes a whole lot of hammering, pulling, thumping and popping, so here are some cues to playing it with the right feel.
Let's use the following notations :
- T stands for thumping (i.e. hitting the string with the thumb of your right hand)
- P stands for plucking (plucking the string with the index finger of your rught hand)
- h stands for hammering (hitting the string with a finger of the left hand and keeping the finger pressed)
- o stands for pulling off (i.e. removing one finger off the fingerboard curling it a little bit so the note below can be sounded without using the right hand)
The bars should be played as follows :
Bars 1 & 2: ThTPToTTohTPTT
Bars 3 & 4: ThTPToTTohTPTPTP
Bars 5 & 6: ThTPToToThTPTT
Bars 7 & 8: ThTPToToThThToTo
This riff should be played at 200, but first you might want to practice it at 120 and upgrade tempo progressively.
Some parts are quite difficult to play the first few times because they tend to break with well-learnt slapping patterns, but that's exactly why I put them there !
