Help: Fixing Customizable Playing

WARNING: ActiveBass has determined that you have 'cookies' DISABLED in your Web browser. You will NOT be able to properly listen to our musical examples if cookies are disabled in your browser's preferences. If this is the case, please enable them, and re-enter the site

If you were once able to customize the music playback, but have lost the customization capability, then the most reliable way to remedy this problem is to delete what are called 'cookies', which is a text file on your computer's hard drive that allows us to keep track of what your playback preferences are. If you have a friend who is knowledgeable about the computer, they might be a better person to take care of this, but here are some of the basics.
  • If you use Windows, and Microsoft Internet Explorer as your browser, you can find the cookie file for ActiveBass by doing a file search on the Windows system directory for the term "activebass" (don't include the quotes). On Windows 95/98/2000, this is usually C:\Windows. Remember to include subfolders when you do the search. You should find 1 or 2 files that have a name similar to [something]@www_activebass.txt or [something]@activebass.txt. Delete them, close any instances of your browser, re-open your browser and then go to ActiveBass (http://www.activebass.com/). It will be as if you entered the site for the first time, and your playback will again be customizable.

  • If you use Windows, and Netscape as your browser, you can find the cookie file by doing a file search on the Netscape directory for the term "cookies.txt" (don't include the quotes). On Windows 95/98/2000, this is usually C:\Program Files\Netscape\. Remember to include subfolders when you do the search. When you find cookies.txt, open it up and remove any lines that have the term "activebass.com" in them. Then, close any instances of your browser, re-open your browser and then go to ActiveBass (http://www.activebass.com/). It will be as if you entered the site for the first time, and your playback will again be customizable.

  • If you're on a Mac, you might want to consult a knowledgeable friend about where to find the cookies for your specific browser.
