Help: Basic Requirements

Here's what you need to get the most out of ActiveBass:

Supported Browsers
• Windows - Netscape Navigator 3.x/4.x, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x.
• Macintosh - Netscape Navigator 3.x/4.x, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x.

Browser Options
• JavaScript - JavaScript must be enabled in your browser's preferences.
• Cookies - Your browser must be enabled to accept cookies for any member services (lesson and music authoring, FretBuzz message posting, etc.), and to incorporate your preferences into the playback of sound examples. Your preferences are located at the bottom of this window.
• Cache - Lesson or music authors should set their browser cache preferences to look for newer versions of pages or to verify documents every time a page is visited..

Sound
• Windows - A General MIDI-compatible soundcard is required. Netscape Navigator requires a MIDI plug-in such as LiveAudio, Quicktime, or Beatnik. Microsoft Internet Explorer uses the Windows Media Player.
• Macintosh - Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer both require a MIDI plug-in such as Crescendo or Beatnik.   NOTE: The QuickTime Plug-In for Netscape on the Macintosh often does not play our MIDI examples properly. If you are using QuickTime on a Macintosh and do not hear our MIDI examples, please download and install one of the recommended plug-ins below.
Use the chart below to see if you need a plug-in, and which ones to use
Netscape 3.0 Netscape 4.0 MSIE 4.0
